every time anyone touches our mini Wiener dogs they piddle on the floor on on us. The mail is really bad and we have had him neutered to stop this but, it still happens. How do we stop our Mini Wiener form wetting when you touch them?Peeing is a form of submission. It's their way of showing you or anyone else that they are the alpha dog.
Some dogs are just overly submissive.
One of my sister's two dogs is like this. We've tried everything to stop it, but basically, all we can do is be careful never to lean over him- when you want to pet him, ALWAYS lower yourself straight down and reach out so you're never looming over him. We also don't look him in the eye, and we always let him greet us outside.|||They are fearful. When you first come home or walk into the room, don't immediately search them out. Walk in, put away your coat, check the mail, and let them come up to you, and sniff and investigate your shoes and stuff. Don't just run in, shriek "Where are my baaaabies??" and fly down to the floor with hands outstretched and grabbing for their ears or chins. It's freaking them out. (Even if your daily greeting is not so dramatic- they are overreacting to your arriving home/entering the room and are peeing from fright).
After they are done sniffing your shoes, walk AWAY from them and go to a different room and sit down on the floor. When they follow you into the room, you'll already be at their level, and less of a threat. Let them again come up to you and sniff and lick or whatever. Don't pet. Just let them sniff round. When they lose interest, toss a little toy and have them bring it back, and exchange the toy for a small treat. No petting. Take it slowly. After you're done playing and they are relaxed and lying down, you can get up and walk away and continue your daily routine. Do this a few more times.
Remember not to fly in and attack them with kisses and petting. Let them greet you at their pace. When they are reacting well to this training AFTER A FEW DAYS, you can slowly begin touching them on their backs, getting them more comfortable before you start smooching again.
Good luck with your pups! It's not a serious problem, just be patient. How do we stop our Mini Wiener form wetting when you touch them? How old are they?
If they're young like under a year, they will eventually grow out of it. Just grin & bear it and socialize them more. It might be a pain, but they will grow out of it. I had this problem with my Golden Retriever.
Were they adopted?
Maybe they were abused if you adopted them from a shelter or another home.
If neither of these are your dogs, they may have a bladder infection. Take them to the vet if it persists.
Good Luck!
EDIT: DO NOT discipline them!! They cannot help it if they get excited easily.|||It is just submissive/ excited peeing. A lot of dogs just grow out of it.How do we stop our Mini Wiener form wetting when you touch them?either excited or nervous. ignore it, so it wont be excited or nervous. disipline him a little bit. Say NO.
