What they do is take the Mini (base level) and take sticker price minus expected repairs to come up with a value, and compare it to resale value of cars. Mini out performs other cars in the same category for resale value, even with a higher-than-average cost association. That said, this will provide only info about new Minis, not the older varieties. I owned a VW GTI and presently own an Acura. The VW came with the understanding that all parts and service would be 1.5 times the American car parts and service, and it was. The Acura came with the understanding that nothing would have to be replaced for a very long time, and that too turned true. This means when ever your car brakes down AAA will come out and take care of you, if they cant take care of you out on the road then they will tow your MINI to the closest MINI dealer. Plus, if you are more than 100 miles away from your home they will supply you with lodging and transportation until your MINI is fixed. How many other car brands will do that?
