mini: My mini beagle is over weight, the vet told us he needs to loose weight but he loves people food, I tell my family not to feed him that, but they do it any way! He is around 32 pounds. If the dog is yours then I would say they're obliged, if out of politeness if nothing else to do as you ask. How old are you? Have your other family members spoken to the vet too? If not, encourage them to - it can help motivate them if the speak to the professional as it can help them see the seriousness of the situation. It sounds like your family feeding extra food is the main thing you need to work on. But there are other things you can do - be sure your dog is on a premium quality dog food (i.e nothing from a supermarket). Have a look at the suggested daily feeding amount for the weight your dog is SUPPOSED to be (hopefully your vet told you this). You will then have to reduce the amount of food to compensate for how much extra food your family is giving him!!
