I've used apple all my life and only use pc in school. My dad is thinking about getting me a mini netbook but they only come in pc. I'm worried about how different they are. Does anyone have any bad experiences or complaints? Also are they hard to get use to?How different is a Mac Book to a Mini Netbook? The MacBook has a larger screen (13.3") than a netbook, a more powerful processor, a bigger keyboard, a larger hard drive and also more ports (USB, firewire depending on the model, ethernet) and also has bluetooth and wifi built in. The MacBook also has an optical drive that will read and write to DVDs and CDs.
If you only have one computer the MacBook is a better choice. If you are on the go a lot and only use the internet and do some word processing, the netbook may be your answer.
By the way people have hacked some of the netbooks, including the Dell MIni 9, to run OS X.|||You won't have any problems with learning to use the Netbook. They are just smaller laptops without a DVD drive.
I've used both Apples and Windows PCs all my life, and I think PCs are slightly easier to use. The only downside is that you'll need to run anti-virus software, (since almost everyone uses PCs, viruses are written for PCs) but other than that... no problem.
If you don't use 3DStudioMax or watch DVDs and just want to use the web, check e-mail, and do schoolwork, the netbook is all the computer you need.
PLUS your Dad will be happy with the MUCH smaller computer bill! ($400 vs $1100)How different is a Mac Book to a Mini Netbook? Those netbooks also come with linux operating systems and not just windows (mac and linux are both based on the a unix kernal, which gives its stability)
Also there are some guides out that can make it so your linux operating system will look like a mac.
But they are not bad for your day to day needs like internet use and using office programs. They use an intel atom processor, which is a low-end processor but for what netbooks are designed for they do the job very well.
The only compain I have about them they are small and no optical drive.
But I have not used one long enough to give you more detials.
PS: I go with one of the dell netbooks. They have both windows and an Ubuntu Linux options on their website.|||I used both PC and Mac.
Mac has much better User Interface and it easier to use. Of course when you first switch from PC, you have to learn some new tricks. But once you get over the learning curve, you usually will not go back to the PCs. I have several friends that have been using the PC since the early 1980s and they converted to a Mac user within a few week. And now they only buy Mac.
The only problem with the Mac is its price. A mac book is at least $1000 while some mini Netbook is below $400. You do the math.
Mini Netbook's screen is just too small, it strain your eyes. Netbook usually has a much much less powerful CPU. They seldem have a DVD player/burner. The MacBook's CPU is always of decent speed and power. You can play DVD on a mac book. The new MacBook also has a touch pad that work like an iPhone. e.g. you pinch to resize, use two finger sweep for scrolling etc.
If you can afford it, definitely the Mac Book. But at one third the price, a netbook is a great compromise. How different is a Mac Book to a Mini Netbook? The Mac Book is in another league compared to the Netbooks on the market today. Simply because the MAC has always been a top shelf product. The Netbooks are cheaper and scaled down significantly. I'm a Netbook fan but if you're use to using a Mac don't change. If you need a cheap 300 dollar unit get a Acer netbook. I love my Acer, and if almost a disposable price.
