I have the old ipod mini the 4gb ipod and each time i go to the itunes store it says it has to update the itunes but im afraid if i do update the itunes my ipod mini wouldn't work anymore and would not play the songs because it is really old and has the old itunes 4(version 4.8.0.31) someone please helpWould my Ipod mini work with the new and latest itunes for example itunes 7?No, I am sure it wouldn't because the iPod mini has been discontinued for some time, therefore it is no longer supported. The nano was its replacement.
For an iPod mini to work with iTunes it would need:
iPod mini 1G - iTunes 4.2
iPod mini 2G - iTunes 4.7.1
Those are the minimum versions it requires.
My suggestion, since it looks like you also would need an old version of Windows such as 2000 or Mac such as 10.1 & 10.2 you should look to upgrading both the iPod & your computer.
If you update just the computer then iTunes 4 would not be able to work as for XP the minimum version that could work is 4.1 but the mini needs at least 4.2 to work.
If you update just the iPod then your computer wouldn't be able to get the version of iTunes that is compatible with it, as most of the current iPods require at least iTunes 8 to run & with Windows 2000 the highest you could go is 7.3.2|||iTunes 8 is completely backwards compatible with all releases of the Apple ipod. I wouldn't be worried, but as with any upgrade you should backup all your music to either an external hard drive or burn it to a few DVDs. Would my Ipod mini work with the new and latest itunes for example itunes 7?Yes, your mini will work with the current iTunes, which is 8.0.1. We have a mini, a 2nd gen nano, and a 5th gen video, all work fine on the new 8.0.1 update|||Yes it will work. Would my Ipod mini work with the new and latest itunes for example itunes 7?Yes, it should.
