mini: Hello I have bought a mini fridge for my bedroom. I want to know if it is alright to switch off at night and switch back on when I get in from work the next day, as the noise it makes is annoying when I try to get to sleep at night. Is it bad for the fridge to be constantly turned on and off. It won't hurt it if you unplug it when you're trying to sleep - but your food won't stay cold, of course. Actually - since most mini-fridges aren't self-defrosting - you'll be doing a good thing to keep frost under control by turning it off for a while.|||The freon and liquids inside the fridge have to warm up during the night when you turn it off, and they become less liquid and, in time, more gel-like, because you're also dealing with mildew and mold mixing up in there. But if it's just for a semester....Also get some ear plugs or a white noise machine and keep it on to see if this works. Also, if its making a loud enough noise to keep you awake at night maybe there is something defective in it... those things are generally pretty quiet...|||technically it should not bother it a sit should only work when needed for chilling! why not fit a cheap timer to it? eliminates need to remember to switch on and off. the real issue will be what you keep in it ! eg food stuffs are not a good idea. if its only used for drinks though should not be a problem.Can you turn off a mini fridge each night and switch on the next day constantly without problems?It takes a lot of energy to get to be cold. Turning it on and off would make your energy bill go up. There should not cause the fridge to have any problems if you do turn it on and off.|||My mini fridge actually suggest turning it off 2 hours every day so I'm guessing it will be fine.
