I've just been stationed in Germany and found out they don't really have much for cable TV. I heard about using a Apple Mac Mini as a media center using Plex or Boxee and then connecting it to your TV. My question is not how to do it, but being over in Germany would things such as the Hulu app work, and is there some sort of DVD torrent download website available to download movies to watch through VLC available over there? Any help would be great.Does using a Mac Mini as a media center work overseas in Germany?hulu doesnt work here. most legal american streams are blocked. as for torrent.. it works fine^^ i use american torrents most of the time, plenty of seeds for every torrent are located in Germany also.
Ps: dont download illegal stuff when in bavaria its the only state that prosecutes private pirates.
for german tv i would recommend dvb-tv, if you want american tv you have to try cardsharing via d-box.(its legal in germany)
there are some shops in germany specialized in modding the hardware. they also modd all kinds of game consoles to play copies and region free. they do buisness trough internet only most of the time.
but torrent is best in my opinion.Does using a Mac Mini as a media center work overseas in Germany?I'm pretty sure things like Hulu Plus and Netflix are USA only. You should check each of their sites or contact them directly so you don't end up disappointed. On the bright side though you should be able to find similar services in Germany. Of course they'll probably be in German.
