I am looking to buy a laptop for college and I was wondering if saving some money and buying a mini netbook would be worth it. I would just be using it to do research online and writing papers. Do these computers last? Are they any good? How efficient are mini net book laptops? They'reportable, but lack real power. I'd get the Hp TX2 tablet from best buy. It's small, but powerful. How efficient are mini net book laptops?Netbooks are small machines that are intended to work for 2-3 years before they are obsolete. You will probably replace your netbook halfway through your college career. A traditional laptop will probably see you all the way through your 4 years.
The small size makes them ideal for taking to class; but often, netbooks do not have the processing power to be effective as personal computers. Most struggle to even run MS Word! (The recommended program for netbooks is Open Office, which is smaller and lighter.)
They are not ideal as a primary machine. (For example, they do not have CD or DVD drives! No way to burn or play a CD or DVD.)
Why not consider an entry level laptop instead? Best Buy sells several full-sized laptops priced around $600, and Dell also has entry level machines in the same price range. How efficient are mini net book laptops?Sounds perfect, that is what they were made for.
