I'd rather stay out of the iMic-price league, there's so much cheaper ones for PC, but all of them have the dual input. One for the sound, one for the mic-input. Mac Mini only has one and an input for microphones driven by batteries. What is the best alternative for a microphone on a Mac Mini?I think your best bet is to forget the line - in, which is actually digital input, and is "high-definition," and for input from a camera or microphone, a commercial one such as a SHURE PG48.
A USB mic is best, they often have headphones built in, offer great audio Performance, it is compatible with all games and is great for iChat and any other IM program.
Follow this link for Mac compatible USB mics: http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?page=2&keywords=USB%20Headset&sort=Price%20asc
The Link above should lead you to headsets starting in the low $20s.What is the best alternative for a microphone on a Mac Mini?If you have guitar hero, the mic works great as a usb mic. Any usb mic should work.
